The three new moon herbs I pulled are Sage, Rosemary and Lemon Balm ... and I have 3 cocktails and 1 mocktail listed below to help relax us after hours and a long day at work! The new moon is all about the beginning of something …. The fresh start. The time to set intentions and defining your manifestations. It’s a great time to cleanse. (Not just clean – but cleanse your space.) If you do shadow work – this is a wonderful time to journal and work on areas of self-improvement.
SAGE / Cleanse spaces, spiritual connections, protection, wisdom, clarity, grounding, courage, strength and healing. This new moon cocktail is a combination of bourbon, fresh lemon juice and sage infused simple syrup. The recipe from Inspired by Charm calls for 0.75 ounces of fresh lemon juice, 2 ounces of bourbon and 1-ounce of a sage simple syrup with a lemon slice and sage leaf to garnish.
ROSEMARY / We are working with the energy of cleansing and protection with Rosemary on this one. It’s about inner peace and growth. It’s about increased energy and clarity of mind. This new moon cocktail is a combination of gin, club soda, fresh lemon juice and a rosemary infused simple syrup. The recipe from the Happy Homemaker calls for 0.50 ounces of rosemary simple syrup, 0.50 ounces of fresh lemon juice, 2 ounces of gin and 3 ounces of club soda with a rosemary sprig and lemon slice to ga
LEMON BALM / Happiness, renewal, spirituality, purity and healing. Lemon Balm is also good with love, success and youthful energy along with cleansing and compassion. This new moon cocktail is a combination of lite beer, lemon balm syrup, fresh grapefruit and soda water. The recipe from Joanna Hawley McBride calls for 6 ounces of lite beer, 0.75 ounces of lemon balm syrup, 1/3 cup of fresh grapefruit juice and soda water to top.
ROSEMARY / once more because I just love it! This is an easy recipe with a combination of pear juice, rosemary simple syrup, fresh lemon juice and sparkling water. You'll need 5 tablespoons of pear juice, 1 tablespoon of rosemary simple syrup, 1 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice and then fill the rest of the glass with sparkling water. Serve over ice and garnish with a sprig of rosemary and a pear slice.
The three waxing moon herbs I pulled are Dandelion, Yerba Mansa & Ginger. All are good herbs to support the waxing moon as she is gaining strength – she is getting bigger and bigger – stronger and stronger. These herbs help us take action, concentrate on growth, improvement, and moving forward. This is an energetic phase of the moon that translates well into us putting energy into our projects, our goals and working on our inspirations. We are making decisions here!
Dandelion helps our liver, our kidneys and our digestive system. Dandelions have a bunch of vitamins and minerals – they have vitamin A, C and D in them along with the B complex. They have Iron, calcium, potassium and zinc. Yes, if you eat a dandelion straight out of the garden it might be a little bitter – but we know that is what helps us detox. For this Waxing Moon cocktail, you'll need 2 cups on dry gin, 1/2 cup dandelion flowers and 1/2 tsp of ground dandelion root.
Yerba Mate - well the list is SO long of benefits from the Yerba Mate plant, but some key points are 24 vitamins and minerals along with 15 amino acids. It comes from dried evergreen holly leaves in South America. Yerba Mate increases strength & energy which is perfect for the Waxing Moon Phase! You'll need 1 tsp yerba mate blend, 1 tsp Agave Syrup, 1 shot of Tequila, soda water and ice. Brew the yerba mate tea in about 1/4 cup of fresh water. Allow to steep.
Ginger / This herb has numerous health benefits primarily it's ability to alleviate digestive issues. Ginger has traditionally been used to treat things like nausea, motion sickness, morning sickness and even chemo-induced nausea. This anti-inflammatory herb has many antioxidants too! To make this Waxing Moon Cocktail you'll need 1 1/2 oz of Scotch Whiskey, 3/4 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1/2 oz ginger syrup, 1/2 oz honey syrup and 1 sprig of rosemary.
I really tried to find the herb "Elfwood" but could not find it. So I went with the happy Daisey and pulled the peppermint herb since it works so well with our energetic phase of the Waxing Moon. For this drink you'll need 1 cup peppermint tea (brewed and chilled), 1/2 cup fresh orange juice, 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice, 2 Tablespoons honey or agave syrup, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, ice cups and sparkling water to top off. Add edible daisy for garnish or an orange slice.
The three full moon herbs I pulled are Mugwort, Jasmine & Bay Laurel. All are good herbs to support the full moon as she is at her height, strongest & brightest version of her phases. These herbs help us work with spirits and cross realms, celebrate our wins and our accomplishments and remind us to be grateful for all we have. The full moon is a time for celebration, harvest & gratitude!
Mugwort is the quintessential lunar herb making it the perfect full moon herb to work with first! I loved this recipe. To make this full moon cocktail you'll need 1 oz gin, 1 oz dry vermouth, 1/2 oz elderflower liqueur, 1/4 oz fresh lemon juice, 1 tsp mugwort syrup, ice, lemon twist for garnish and fresh mugwort for garnish. Shake it all up and pour ... enjoy!
Bringing the night blooming lunar herb Jasmine into the full moon cocktails was a must for me. To make this cocktail you'll need 2 oz gin, 1 oz jasmine liqueur or jasmine syrup, 1/2 oz simple syrup (if using the jasmine liqueur), ice and edible jasmine flowers to garnish (or lemon twist to garnish). Shake shake shake, strain and enjoy!
We all love using a bay leaf to set intentions ... well it is perfect to use during a full moon for our afterhours wind down too! For this cocktail you'll need 2 oz gin, 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice, 1/2 oz bay laurel simple syrup, 1/2 oz simple syrup (if needed for sweetness), 1 egg white and then a bay leaf or lemon twist to garnish. Shake shake shake, strain and enjoy!
Mixed berries complement our bodies so well that I just had to grab the amazing energy they bring to the full moon list. For this mocktail you'll need 1/2 cup of fresh mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, boysenberries, blackberries, cranberries, etc), 1 tablespoon of agave syrup (or honey), 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice, 1/2 cup sparkling water or club soda, ice cubes and fresh mint to garnish.
